Description

Industrial ceramic tiles are a broad category, and their classification can be based on several factors. Here’s a breakdown of common types:

  • Based on Material Composition and Manufacturing Process
This is the most common way to categorize industrial ceramic tiles.
    • Porcelain Tiles
Made from a very dense, fine-grained clay mixture (typically kaolin, feldspar, quartz, and ball clay) fired at extremely high temperatures (1200-1400°C). This results in a tile with very low water absorption (less than 0.5%), making them exceptionally strong, durable, and resistant to stains, frost, and chemicals.
    • Quarry Tiles
Made from natural clays (e.g., shale, earthenware) fired at high temperatures. They are typically unglazed and have a porous to semi-vitreous structure, meaning they have moderate water absorption (typically 3-7%). They often have a rustic, earthy appearance.
